One Million Step Challenge

In July, Diabetes UK are launching their “One Million Step Challenge”. The aim is to get people active over the next three months with a target of reaching one million steps by the end of September. You’ll need to take an average of at least 10,000 steps a day to be successful but how you do them and where you do them is completely up you. Find out more at: 


Join Up Your Fitbit Data - Available from 3rd July!
To tie in with the One Million Step Challenge, we have been developing a link to Fitbit ( that will allow you to add your activity tracker data to My Diabetes My Way. If you have a Fitbit device, log in to My Diabetes My Way and select “My Services”. You can then link your Fitbit account and connect your Fitbit records. When you do this, you will see a new section named “My Activity” where you can monitor your steps, heart rate and many other Fitbit measurements.

Even if you don't own a Fitbit device, you can still track your activity for free by downloading the Fitbit app on your smartphone and using Fitbit’s MobileTrack function. MobileTrack lets you use the Fitbit app without a Fitbit device by using your phone's sensors to track basic activity data including steps, distance, and calories burned.

Health Information Week 2019
Health Information Week takes place from the 1st to the 7th July 2019, with the aim of helping the public find high quality health related information. High quality health information can have a huge positive impact on people's ability to manage their health more effectively, thus giving them a better quality of life. Health Information Week 2019 (#HIW2019) themes are:

Tuesday 2nd July: Mental health and patient stories
Wednesday 3rd July: Health and digital literacy
Thursday 4th July: Long term conditions and social prescribing
Friday 5th July: Innovations for preventing illness
Saturday 6th July: Patient stories
Sunday 7th July: Mindfulness and relaxation
My Diabetes My way will be adding resources to Twitter and Facebook throughout Health Information Week to support these themes.
