Scottish Government Policy
My Diabetes My Way is aligned to the strategic objectives of the Scottish Government. We work with the Scottish Diabetes Group and the Digital Health and Care Directorate and the service is referenced as an example of good practice in several strategy and policy documents.
- Care in the Digital Age: Delivery Plan 2023-24 (2023): My Diabetes My Way has been referenced under “Priority One: People have digital access to information, their own data and services which support their health and wellbeing, wherever they are”. As part of the commitment, the Scottish Government are reviewing the service and considering options to ensure its sustainability. We welcome this process and the support we are receiving from our colleagues in Digital Health. - Health and Social Care: Data Strategy (2023): My Diabetes My Way has been referenced as an example of success in providing people with access to their healthcare records. The reports states an “example of empowering individuals by allowing them to actively contribute to their record is My Diabetes My Way (MDMW). MDMW currently supports people to access their health record online or to upload a reading about their wellbeing. There are opportunities for this to be developed for other conditions or in different settings. Learning from MDMW’s success we want to further expand access to data”. - Diabetes: my information, my support (2022): The report details people’s lived experience of diabetes information and support in Scotland, with information captured through a series of focus groups, a workshop and an online survey. My Diabetes My Way has been referenced throughout the report as a useful source of information, encouraging and motivating people towards goals and offering access to diabetes records. - Diabetes care - Diabetes improvement plan: commitments - 2021 to 2026 (2021): This strategy document sets our Scotland’s priority objectives for diabetes care in Scotland until 2026. My Diabetes My Way is a key component of this strategy, particularly under the priority area of “Equity of Access”.
